Do people speak English in Costa Rica?
Directions in EnglishOne frequent question that we get all the time is: how well do people know English in Costa Rica hotels? To many people's surprise, Costa Rica has a high rate of bilingual population and specially if you are staying at beach resorts / hotels, you won't have any problem communicating. Costa Rica's hotel owners know that their main source of income comes from US visitors. In high season, for most hotels, at least 60% of their reservations are from Americans. You would ask, well but still, why would accommodation owners want to cater to this market? Well, the reason is quite simple. Americans are more comfortable paying higher rates than locals. The economy in the US, at least in recent years, allowed people to afford better vacations abroad.

Government wants a piece of the pie
Costa Rican Finance Minister Guillermo Zuņiga has introduced a bill into the legislative assembly, that if approved, would tax all online and offline gambling operators based in Costa Rica 2% on all revenues generated. The new law was received by the assembly on August 3rd and would have been put into approval earlier this week. There have been no official results posted in “La Gaceta” the official government news paper, which is responsible for making all laws official in Costa Rica, but many believe this is a turn in the wrong direction for trying to get a piece of the online betting industry.

Perhaps you arrived at this website because you were looking for Hotel San Gildar in Escazu. Unfortunately the Hotel San Gildar is not functioning anymore, it has been closed permanently. The reason given by the hotel directors is that the hotel's property has changed its intention. From now on, the hotel's property is going to be used for something else, something undisclosed at this time.
